MESTO : ROB - mednarodna urbanistično arhitekturna delavnica Maribor-jug / CITY : EDGE international urban planning/architectural workshop Maribor-South

uredila/edited by Uroš Lobnik, Peter Šenk

Monografija Mesto: rob – mednarodna urbanistično/arhitekturna
delavnica Maribor-jug skozi teorijo in prakso obravnava razmerja
med prostorskimi in infrastrukturnimi ureditvami ter naslavlja
vprašanje konceptualizacije roba sodobnega mesta. Infrastruktura
v prostoru ni nevtralna, saj bistveno zaznamuje značaj prostora in
vpliva na njegov razvoj glede na strateška izhodišča in zastavljene
cilje trajnostnega razvoja. Umeščanje avtocest in obvoznic v lokalno
skozi prostorsko, družbeno, energetsko in kulturno komponento.
Skozi teoretske okvire, analize primerov iz drugih okolij, primerjave
in podrobnejšo obravnavo specifičnega primera mesta Maribor,
prostorske konsekvence dobe mobilnosti v projekcijah razvoja
strokovnih podlag, različnih faz, odzivov, pa vse do izvedbe v obliki
prostorskih načrtov.

Through theory and practice, City: Edge – International Urban
Planning/Architectural Workshop Maribor-South discusses
relationships between spatial and infrastructural systems and
addresses the issue of conceptualising the edge of the contemporary
city. Infrastructure is not neutral in space as it significantly affects
the character of space and impacts its development with respect
to strategic baselines and the objectives set for sustainable
development. In addition to enabling mobility, developing highways
and bypasses in the local environment must also be considered
through spatial, social, energetic and cultural perspectives. Spatial
consequences of the mobility era gain national and regional
dimensions in projections for developing the local environment
of the city’s southern edge based on theoretical frameworks, case
studies from other environments, comparisons and a detailed
discussion of the specific case of the city of Maribor. Planned
direction of urban development in the areas of constructing
transport infrastructure is highlighted as one of the priorities of
contemporary urban planning and sustainable urban redevelopment.
Adopting an integrated interdisciplinary approach is what
enables understanding the complexity of the issues of developing
infrastructure at the city edge, from devising questions, preparing
technical bases, various phases and responses to implementation in
the form of spatial plans.

Teoretskim tekstom sledi sklop predlogov skupin uglednih tujih in slovenskih mentorjev – profesorjev arhitekture in urbanizma

The decision making in the professional field of urban planning and architecture contains specific aspects of research. The decision making in planning and designing is from the geneses influenced by artistic work methods and therefore a subjective one, which involves a certain danger of irritations. The necessity of bypassing this danger has established some specific forms of research and planning. The attempt is to strengthen the objectivity of the idea development by means of intensive and interdisciplinary team work, conferences and/or expert opinions. The presented publication and the workshop  behind it follow these forms of the scientific attempt to solve urban planning problems.

This work can be very useful not only to students in the area of transport and traffic sciences, urban planning and architecture, but also to experts or readers who are in any way concerned with the problems of traffic and urbanism, especially those interested in sustainable urban development in cities in Slovenia as well as Europe and the world.
